Between the Lines - September 2017

Here we are at the end of Summer! Clarion County A.B.A.T.E. has had a very busy season! We've been riding, fund-raising, giving away bicycles to local boys and girls and having a lot of fun too.

Everyone had a great time at SummerJam which was held on July 8th. Our Road Captain, Art McGarvey, put together a really nice Poker Run (Thank You!) and White Cat Out gave us an outstanding show. Proceeds from the ride and dance are going to PA BikePAC.

On July 16th our chapter participated in the Fireman's Jubilee in Hawthorne, PA. The winners of the bikes were: Heaven Kerns of New Bethlehem, PA and Levi Bowser of Distant, PA.

Many of us rode in the 5th Annual Friends of Christian Poker Run on July 23. The event has grown every year; this year about 90 people participated in the ride followed by a pig roast. FOC is a MC that helps local children and families experiencing financial hardship due to an acute or chronic health condition.

Clarion County A.B.A.T.E. was present all week (July 22-29) at the Clarion County Fair, Alcola Park, Hawthorn, PA. We raffled off a beautiful hand-crafted American Flag, sold A.B.A.T.E. merchandise and gave away two bicycles. Winners of bicycles at Clarion County Fair are Clara Volpe and Derrick Downs.

Hope you're all having a great summer! C-ya next month!

Between the Lines – October 2014

Hello Clarion County!

Well, if you missed the summer party, shame on you! It was a hell of a good time even with Russ and Sherry being toted off in ambulances! What an end to the rodeo events! The Chapter ride in the morning benefitted the Clarion County Fair and was a really nice run. Thanks to everyone who participated. Wes and Julie made sure the food was ready when everyone returned to my house for Stage 2. Everybody was well fed, including Duke! There proved to be some stiff completion in the rodeo events which made for some great commentary from Charlie! So, here are the winners:

1st Place – Scotty

2nd Place – Brian

3rd Place – Dan

Walk the Plank:

1st Place – Eric

2nd Place – Brian

3rd Place – Dan

Egg-n-Cone:

1st Place – Brian and Wendie

2nd Place – Eric and Marcia

3rd Place – Ken and Chrystal

2nd Place – Brian and Wendie

3rd Place – Eric and Marcia

Wiennie Bite:

1st Place – Brian and Wendie

2nd Place – Dan and Angie

3rd Place – Ron and Becky

Pitcher Race:

Due to Russ and Sherry crashing and taking ambulance rides to the hospital, the event was not finished. However, the Chapter did award them with prizes for the Best Exit!!! We are glad that they are both OK!

The Run-n-Gun ride was super. There were over 50 shooters this year! Thanks to everyone who worked the stops on the ride, Peach for setting it up, and Kemmer for providing “snacks” at the final stop. Well done! Just a note: the First and Third Place winners both donated their winnings back to the Chapter. Thanks guys!!

For those who worked the Run-N-Gun raffle, here is a big THANK YOU!! It was awesome, and a huge success!! Scotty and all of his helpers really put on a fantastic event. Thanks to Phil from Butler County and Loraine from Jefferson County for coming and representing their Chapters…and they did it well! Thanks again folks! We appreciated seeing you!!

Well, that’s all for now. Please remember that our Chapter merchandise is always available.

Keep the rubber side down!
